EU Commission: How to prepare for a "Hard Brexit" 13/03/2019 If a Withdrawal Agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (United Kingdom, UK) is not concluded, which would create a transitional period until the end of 2020 (with the possibility of an extension provided for in the withdrawal agreement), the United Kingdom will be treated as a non-EU country (literally as a third country) from 30 March 2019 - this also applies in particular to customs provisions. The European Commission is now fostering its support in preparing EU companies for such a no deal scenario ("Hard Brexit"). The EU Commission now reiterates that affected companies must take all steps necessary before 30 March 2019 (or before a postponed date) to avoid possible adverse effects.
